We are very excited to introduce you to our latest extension and let you know what it can do and what improvements we will be making to the extension after the initial release. Also if you go to bottom of post you will also see we are running a giveway where you can win a free license for this extension.

User Wall

The extension adds a new tab to user profiles which will allow a user to see all of their posts, posts they have received from other users and allow them to create new posts.

Activity Feed

The extension creates a new page called activity and this is where a user can see all posts created on the site from all users.

The posting interface allows users to upload and attach a photo to a post. The user can upload a photo and also write custom text above photo. Only one photo can be uploaded per post.

If a user pastes a Youtube or Vimeo link into a post it will automatically be embedded into the post so users can watch the video without leaving the site. Note: The post will only embed the first url added. If a user adds any more links to a post they will appear as links only.

The extension allows users to like a post. If a post is liked it will instantly increase the like counter. The posting interface will show the profile images of some of the people who have liked the post and a user can see a full list of who has liked a post by clicking on one of the profile pics, which will open up the like modal.

The extension allows users to comment on a user’s post. It is also possible to like comments and also reply to individual comments. To keep the activity feed clean the plugin by default will only show two comments with the rest only appearing when “load more comments” is clicked. As an admin you can set in options how many comments to show initially and how many to load when a user click “load more comments”.

# Hashtags

The extension allows users to add hashtags to their posts. Users can then click on the hashtag to view all activity posts which contain that hashtag.

Role Settings

The extension allows you to set different permissions for each user role. You can make it so the activity tab only shows on certain user profiles; prevent a user role from creating posts; prevent users from being able to attach a photo to a post and prevent a user role from commenting on posts.

To make the extension as efficient and quick as possible we have added in lazy load for posts. By default the extension will load 10 posts at a time and will load more as user scrolls down page. As admin you can set in options how many posts you want to be loaded at a time and you can set a different number for mobile devices.

What’s coming in future updates?

We believe in the MVP approach to products and getting early feedback from users. The initial release of the extension has mainly focused on the posting interface. Much more is planned with this extension including showing activity on the feed which shows other interactions on site e.g John Doe created a new blog post etc.

In conjuction with the upcoming release of the extension, we are running another giveway where we are giving away 5 annual licenses for the extension. So if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning one of the free licenses then just enter the giveway below. The more actions you complete the higher chance you will have of winning 😉 The giveway will end on Monday.

  1. Are these functions incorporated into bbPress topics? When you mention “post”, are you referring to just the blog posts that these functions will be available on?

    1. Posts made by users, like on Facebook or twitter, Not blog posts 🙂 so you can write a post on your wall, photo, video, or the same on another user’s wall (if allowed)

    1. Awesome! Can’t wait. Will it be able to display how followed who and newly published articles? I’m using a front-end editor that allows my user to publish new blog posts it would be super awesome to see new blog posts in activity stream 🙂 and new followers 🙂

    2. Hi,

I would love to have this feature as well so that new posts are automatically posted to the wall.

Is there a work around in the meantime? I saw that it mentions that new blog posts will be displayed on the wall, which type are displayed? How are they different to new posts?

  2. Hy from germany (sorry about my bad english)

Since 10 Years i built different Communitys in the Internet and have a lot of expirince with some plugins and community Software.

    1. I begin with BuddyPress and built a Community für Photographers and Models and need a good Picture Gallery Software. 8 Years ago, i use a BuddyPress Gallery Plugin from Brajesh Sing.

    2. The BuddyPress works slow and i switch to the PHPFox Software, is a alone standing Software but the Support is very very bad and the Software itselfs looks like 20 years before.

NOW i found the UltimateMember and I love it !

Now – here is my question an idear !

Please, put a good Gallery Software to the Activity !

What happend with the pictures now?
Only on the activity wall from the member?
or put the pictures after Upload into a gallery or better in a album?

Please give us all the possibility like in Facebook
Facebook have the best Community-Photo Idear

    1. User should have the possibility to create own Photo-Albums, with Name and Discription

    2. User should be able the put Pictures into different Photo-Albums

    3. The Picture Albums should be on a tab in the user menu line

    4. Single Pictures who upload into the timeline, should go automtic into a album

Comments to the pictures into a lightbox would be perfect

User/Members should get a notification when a comment is on a picture

User should get a information when someone like a picture

    1. Please post any questions you may have on our support forum, we’ll be happy to respond to them.

  3. Would it be possible to show how many followers a user has on a social network once they have connected to it? i.e. They connect Twitter login, so they can show how many Twitter followers they have on their profile automatically. This would be great for the main networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

  4. Does it possible to add custom post type activity to social wall … for exemple, i use wp job manager and i would like to see in activity feed, userX create a “new job” in category “Job” …

    Thank you
